YSRCP releases manifesto, rolls out sops for middle class, farmers

YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy released the party's manifesto for the forthcoming elections here on Saturday. He released the four-page manifesto reiterating the implementation of every promise that he was making.
Jagan further said he would not seek voters in the 2024 election if he fails to fulfil the promises that he was making in this election. He blamed the ruling TDP for not implementing any of its promises and said that the TDP had removed its 2014 manifesto from its official website. YSRCP chief said he would keep his party manifesto in the party portal for the people to make their own assessment of its implementation.

The manifesto acknowledges the current farm distress and lays out adequate steps to reverse it through Rythu Bharosa - providing investment support of Rs 12, 500 per annum free crop insurance, interest-free loans, setting up godowns, cold-storages and food processing plants.

Most of the benefits in the manifesto are women-centric – Rs 15,000 p.a. under Amma Vodi for women sending their kids to schools, Rs 50,000 p.a. for DWCRA women under YSR Aasara and interest payment for self-help groups. Rs. 75,000 for BC, SC, ST, and minority women (over the age of 45 years) under YSR Cheyutha. For YSR Housing the houses will be registered under the name of a woman, marriage support of up to Rs 1 Lakh for SC, ST, BC.
The manifesto promises universal healthcare coverage for the lower and middle class under Arogyasri. Any individual with an annual income of up to Rs 5 Lakh can avail the Universal Health Card and benefits for free. Taking YSR’s vision of Arogyasri forward, the Universal Health Cards will be applicable for any medical expense over Rs 1,000. This scheme will be personally monitored by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
In the manifesto, Jagan promised that his government will address the issue of unemployment by provided jobs to 10 youth in every village at the village secretariat. In addition to that, around 3.5 lakh village/ ward volunteers will receive Rs 5,000 per month as an honorarium. His government will fill the 2.3 lakh government jobs, that are presently vacant. For students, the government will provide complete fee reimbursement and an additional sum of Rs 20,000 p.a. for food and accommodation expenses.
To improve the plight of the elderly, their pensions will be increased to Rs 3,000 per month. For welfare for the BC’s a separate BC fund will be created, with a budget of Rs 75,000 crores (over a period of 5 years), a similar welfare fund will be created for Kapus too. Occupation facing troubles due to the poor state of the economy will also be provided assistance by the state – which includes Barbers, tailors, washer-men, weavers, hawkers, vendors, fishermen, and other caste-based professions.
