According to the UnivDatos, rapid growth in solar PV installations, government initiatives and subsidies, increasing rooftop solar adoption, falling cost of solar hardware, urban infrastructure development, increased tenders from SECI and DISCOMs, and focus on wind load and durability compliance are driving the India Solar Panel Mounting Structure market. As per their “India Solar Panel Mounting Structure Market” report, the Indian market was valued at USD ~270 million in 2024, growing at a CAGR of about 11.60% during the forecast period from 2025 - 2033 to reach USD million by 2033.

India currently experiences a massive energy shift, to which solar photovoltaics is core. As per the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, in March 2025, PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSGMBY), the world’s largest domestic rooftop solar initiative, has achieved a historic milestone with 10 lakh homes now solar-powered as of 10th March 2025. Solar mounting structures provide mechanical foundations on which the solar panels are installed, making it structurally sound, economically optimized, and long-lasting. With an increase in the scale of installation, the demand in the market increases for the ability to implement robust, efficient, and modular mounting solutions, which will catalyse both public and private investment.

Government Schemes Lighting the Way

The rising solar industry is inseparable from the positive government action in India. Several policy instruments guide the investments in building heights:

·       Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) has become instrumental in the implementation of decentralised solar systems, and this has been especially done in the agri-based environments. The trend has led to increased demand for ground-mounted and pole-mounted systems that would suit the rural environment. According to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, on April 1, 2025

o  The PM KUSUM Scheme witnessed record progress. In Component B, 4.4 lakh pumps were installed in FY25, a 4.2-fold increase over the previous year. In Component C, 2.6 lakh pumps were solarized, 25 times more than in FY24. The total number of solar pumps installed/solarized under the scheme has now exceeded 10 lakh (1 million). Financial expenditure for PM-KUSUM surged to INR 2,680 crore (USD 312.41 million), a 268% increase from the previous year.

o  The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana witnessed impressive progress, benefiting over 11.01 lakh (1.101 million) households by March 31, 2025. Under the scheme, INR 5,437.20 crore (USD 633.72 million) has been disbursed as Central Financial Assistance to 6.98 lakh (0.698 million) beneficiaries, significantly promoting the adoption of rooftop solar.

·       The engineering requirements of the utility-scale project Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) tenders are strict- wind-load ratings, corrosion resistance, and requirements to hold certain design certification, among others; thus forcing the manufacturers to become innovative and increase capacity.

·       The Production Linked Incentive (PLI) program on solar components incentivises backward integration, allowing companies to expand their business idea-cycle (with focus on production of complete Balance of System parts, such as mounting structures) beyond module production.

Collectively, these tools not only support the development of clean energy but also transform the rest of the solar value chain, putting solar mounting suppliers at the centre stage.

Private Sector Response, Scale, and Innovation

Indian manufacturers have jumped at this opportunity and begun strategic expansions. Such activity can be seen in Pennar Industries, Strolar Mounting Systems, Purshotam Profiles, and Tata International Ltd., and this is by strengthening the capacity, introducing automation, and using superior materials like hot-dip galvanised steel and anodised aluminium.

There are escalating suppliers offering:

·       Modular and pre-allocated units accelerate the course of installation.

·       Architectures capable of working with trackers to increase energy production,

·       specialized rooftop, carport, and floating installations.

The electronic design and engineering tools, in addition to simulation software, provide site-specific solutions to engineering with ethical legal compliance with the Indian and international structural codes, which enhances the large-scale EPC contract bidding.

For example, on June 17, 2025, Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), India's leading rooftop solar company and a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power, announced the launch of India’s most affordable rooftop solar solution at Bhubaneshwar in Odisha under its 'Ghar Ghar Solar' campaign.

On January 3, 2025, Pennar Industries Ltd, a Hyderabad-based diversified engineering firm, entered into an agreement with Zetwerk Manufacturing for the incorporation of a joint venture company to carry on the business of manufacturing and sale of solar modules, including the development and operation of the manufacturing unit. The proposed business will cater to both domestic and international markets.

Mounting Structures at the Core of Clean Energy Expansion

Strong government programs, increased involvement of the private sector, and technology development in mounting structures are making the Indian solar revolution grow. With demand in both rooftop and utility-scale mounts rising sharply, manufacturers are upsizing with automated materials and modular products. Alliances, strategic and policy incentives are transforming the solar value chain. These developments, combined, make India a great center of solar infrastructure development around the world.
