Dwyane Wade is swapping the court for the comedy club — sort of.

On May 9, the basketball great will present When We Gather, a curated evening of stand-up at the Miracle Theatre in Inglewood.

The event is designed to celebrate Black comedic talent in Los Angeles, bringing together established names, rising stand-ups, and everyone in between for a night of laughter and community.

Wade’s production company, 59th & Prairie Entertainment, is producing the show in collaboration with Netflix Is A Joke and Netflix’s Strong Black Lead. Since retiring from the NBA in 2019 after a 16‑year career largely with the Miami Heat, Wade has expanded into entrepreneurship and producing.

He says he’s excited to make his first foray into comedy production, aiming to create a space where people connect through humor and shared experiences. Wade expressed admiration for the performers lined up to make the night memorable.

Comedian Lil Rel Howery will host, and the lineup includes Chris Spencer and Janelle James, with additional surprise guests expected to be announced.
